Vpress are proud to announce that a member of our team has won a Print Futures Award with The Printing Charity.
Ava Doran has worked for Vpress for nearly three years in the Support team. She is known to many of our customers due to her role in technical support. Ava is also a talented art worker, qualifying complex projects for an array of global brands and we are incredibly proud of her and her achievements.
Having recently completed her apprenticeship in pre-press, Ava was nominated by Vpress because in such a short time she has gone from a beginner to proficient, equalling the level of knowledge of the customers she serves.
This initiative from The Printing Charity has seen many winners develop their career within the industry after winning a grant and we are excited to support Ava on this journey furthering her knowledge and career. The charity aims to champion not only the process of printing, but the diverse roles that orbit print production. There are a number of young people working in areas that help to showcase print and drive it out to a wider audience and ensure that print thrives.
To be put forward for the award, Ava had to submit an application form stating why she thought she was the right person to win an award and what she would use the money for. She also had to talk about what she is bringing and would bring to the print industry in the future.
Following a compelling application, she reached the next stage to meet the judges in London. From there, she was told that she had been one of the lucky winners of a grant.
Ava says about the award, “From a very young age I have always been passionate about art and design, as I have grown older it has appealed to me to work within the Web2Print sector as it incorporates my love for both graphic design and modern, cutting-edge technology.
I have worked with Web2Print world for three years now so feel like I have a lot to bring to the table and can help to educate anyone who is thinking about joining the industry. Being able to invest in my very own Apple laptop would give me the ability to update to the latest version of adobe creative suite as well as keeping abreast of all the latest imagery techniques and page makeup functionality.”
Vpress MD Tim Cox says, “In a short time, Ava has reached the level of competence that sees her completely managing global projects that are rolled out on behalf of her customers. Many of these are the well-known brands that we all use on a daily basis in our lives.
She has only scratched the surface of her capabilities and we are planning the next stages of her career with us. We have been very well supported from the BPIF in facilitating her training and development during her apprenticeship. We are very proud of her for the work that she has done and will do in the future to drive the printing industry forward.”
Ava will join the other winners at the prize giving ceremony later in July.
